I have read that there are polls determining who has sex in the strangest place and the couple who was arrested a few days ago, in the province of Livorno, could clinch the top spot in the standings.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, some believers who were in the cathedral of Cecina heard (unambiguous) moans coming from a confessional and horrified called the police.
Once at the church and opened the confessional, the agents found themselves in front of a half-naked couple engaged in a sexual intercourse. Although the two tried to escape, were arrested and charged with resisting at public officers and obscene acts in public.
Umm, if the case, they will participate in an upcoming poll when they will come out of jail.

Oscar 2013

Emad Burnat stopped at LAX

A story that seems unbelievable, between fiction and reality.
Emad Burnat, director of “5 Broken Cameras“, the first Palestinian documentary getting an Oscar nominee, was stuck at Los Angeles International airport along with his family.  Why?!
For the U.S. officers Customs seemed impossible that the Academy could even nominate a Palestinian.
A case of madness mixed with racism in a country probably still terrified by terrorism, and to the point to prevent a possible Oscar winner go through customs. Unless they all were anti-Palestinians!
To ‘save’ the poor Burnat the intervention of Michael Moore, the friend and famous documentary-maker who via Twitter talked about this incredible story. Thanks to Moore, who immediately contacted the Academy, the director, his wife and 8 year old son were finally ‘liberated’ by the agents, but only for a week.
In fact, after the Oscars, winner or not, Emad Burnat must go away.
Welcome to America,” Moore tweeted controversially, for a story so absurd to look like a fiction.
5 Broken Cameras“, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, is a deep personal and first-hand review of the non-violent resistance implementation in Bil’in, West Bank village threatened by the encroachment of Israeli settlements. Born as a farmer, Emad Burnat used his first video camera in 2005 to film his child birth, then moved to directing with this shocking documentary, which he edited together the co-Israeli filmmaker Guy Davidi.

Cruz’s gayness cause a stir

The featherweight boxer Orlando Cruz becomes first in history of boxe to come out as gay while still competing.
The Puerto Rican, who is currently ranked No.4 in the world by the WBO did a historic revelation, he is relieved about his decision but had initial reservations, and in an interview said: “In this sport that is so macho, I kept this hidden for many, many years. I’ve been fighting for more than 24 years and as I continue my ascendant career, I want to be true to myself. I want to try to be the best role model I can be for kids who might look into boxing as a sport and a professional career. I have always been and always will be a proud gay man“.  He praised his mother and sister for their unconditional love and said his father has always backed him, adding: “Like every father, he wants his son to be a full-blooded man, but he is aware of my preference and taste”.
Since boxing as American football is a strong sport where masculinity must prevail, an individual can’t be gay, that’s the common assumption or the homophobic point of view. Again the homosexuality considered as a disorder or handicap.
OMG, why don’t scientists create a vaccine against such an unacceptable mind-set?
Yet, there are historical precedents as the case of Emile Griffith,  with the hope that the warning given to us by Justin Fashanu, will be useful for something.
Being surprised that a gay boxer exists is a little like being surprised that gay people exist, independently from their activity, as well as gay activity exists in prisons, the army or boarding school dormitories.
As Yahoo’s Kevin Iole writes, “a sad sign of the lack of progress in our society that, when Cruz issued a statement on Wednesday admitting his sexual orientation, it was news.
Many people have turned up their nose at this news, while others, for sure, will not watch at his next matches.

My dear homophobe or ignorant friend, put well in your head that, long as there is mankind, there will be  gay people, whether they are workers, teachers, actors, singers or sports celebrities. This’s normal and so must be considered!

Not long ago, the gentlemanly Italian national football manager Cesare Prandelli told something about homosexuality and sport, because in the world of football and of sport in general, there is still a taboo around gayness, while everywhere everyone ought to live freely with themselves, their desires and feelings.

Perhaps it will be a chance or a personal impression of mine only, but since president Obama expressed its support towards gay marriage, every day among various news, we always find a few concerning the gay world. As just one example, in last days on Yahoo!News I found the following articles:
Bristol Palin Has A Bone To Pick With Obama Over Gay Marriage.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka talk about fatherhood .
Marriage Act is unconstitutional, federal appeals court rules.
Obama touts support for gay rights in Jane Lynch-narrated video.
ACLU lawsuit challenges Ill. gay marriage ban.
Where toddler’s anti-gay song was filmed: We don’t condone hate.
Eagle Scout Challenges Boy Scouts’ Anti-Gay Policy With Petition.

Quite unusual if we consider that in the past a gay-news appeared only when it was a very important information. Needless to say that media and journalists are like weather vanes, following the wind of the moment to get audience. Anyway, theirs is a very strong “power” (the fourth estate?) because of the choice of news to publish and the way how to propose them, which condition strongly the public opinion. As the same it is needless to point out the mass of people who have no personal and precise opinion and therefore easily biased by what they read.
Take a trivial and silly news, publish it on the front page of many newspapers and for a couple of days, and “this news” will become important and famous. If this is not “power”, then tell me what’s not! With regard to gay, right now they have to hope that the news published by homophobic and intolerant journalists are fewest than others in their favor, otherwise even ten Obama will do nothing compared to them.

Let me give you two curious news I read yesterday.

The first concerns the small town of “Falciano Massico” in the province of Caserta, where the mayor has issued an order in which asks to his four thousand local citizens not to die. It is a pure provocation, since this country doesn’t have its own cemetery, but is forced to resort to that in Carinola, a neighboring country. No space and too much money to build one, and so was approved the expansion of the Carinola cemetery. From long time jobs don’t start, without knowing the reasons, and annoyed by this fact, the mayor exposed the ironic ordinance. If nothing else, it has brought cheer among citizens, in the hope that his call can be of good omen, at least!

The other news concerns  a small town in the province of Frosinone. the Anything started as a protest against the former Berlusconi government proposal, to merge municipalities with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. And now, after seven months, the small town of Filettino, with just 598 inhabitants, has become an independent state taking the name “Principality of Filettino”. People has chosen symbolically the Prince and also the members of the new Parliament, being now an independent principality. As Prime ministre  has been appointed Pasquale Squitieri, a film director who commenting on the news says: “Our Mayor’s dream,  about secession from Rome which last August caused havoc worldwide, came true. Now, our goal is to introduce Filettino in the world making it a positive center, economic, cultural and social”. Even the New York Times devoted a long article to the story, like many other media around the world, including Russian state television, which reported the news.

When the crime becomes Business!

The three accused

According to rumors, American networks would have competed, to the tune of dollars, for the exclusive first interview to Amanda Knox returned in U.S. after the acquittal for the murder of Meredith Kercher in Italy. Useless say we all are happy for her. Sure it will, become a scoop, and someone maybe will win a prizes even. I do not think that Amanda has something new or important to say in addition to everything we already know. When a legal case isn’t resolved yet, it would be fair and opportune to pay, if anything, to get to know who the murderess.

Judging by the programs that are aired these days, a lot of people in the television audience like to crime news.

And, who knows why, the killers are more sought than the victims, it gets more audience, evidently!

Behind crimes news on TV there is a round of millionaire business, from the TV networks, earning by  advertising, and ending with the protagonists, criminals and victims, in addition to criminologists, lawyers, psychiatrists, psychologists and commentators, invited as guests or consultants. The few who do not receive earnings, will certainly gain in visibility.

Amanda Knox after the acquittal

In journalism, you should not pay for news.
